Dr Anna Dubownik is a socio-economic geographer working at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management. Her scientific interests focus on local and regional development. She is particularly involved in the analysis of development interventions from European Union funds in both urban and rural areas. She is experienced in desk and field research on post-industrial areas, especially in terms of disparities in the development of human and social capital. She participated in the preparation of development strategies documents at the local government level. She also conducted social consultations on strategic documents. She is the vice president of an association promoting active lifestyle among people of all ages on a regional scale. She has personal experience in observing local development from the perspective of NGOs.
